Sierra 2000 O-Fest
More Useful Info
Lots of food for lots of athletes on Saturday night (Aug. 5) at the
Truckee Donner Community Center, 10046 Church Street, Truckee. Dinner starts
at 6:00. Run hard and arrive hungry!
We will have reviews of Saturday's courses, and door
prizes, including 25 compasses donated by Brunton, will be awarded. Seating is limited,
so sign up when you register for the Sierra 2000 if you want to attend.
It will be a Mexican taco dinner (choice of carne asada, chicken, or fish)
or bean tostada, beans, rice, guacamole, chips, salsa, and soft drinks. The
price for adults (12 and over) is $15, children (3-11) $9.50, and young children (0-2)
free.
Note: When ordering dinners, please indicate the number of children
under 3 (even though they eat free), so we know how many folks to expect due to the
250-person limit.
Directions: From
Northstar, take route 267 north to Truckee, cross the railroad tracks and
continue straight after the stop sign at the main drag. Take the next right
onto Church Street, and the community center is about 1 block down on the
left.
Map Sales
You may purchase a copy of the Spooner Lake map prior to the O-Fest. The
charge is $4, which includes shipping. If you desire, we can print one
of the courses used for last year's U.S. Championships. Please indicate
what course, if any, you desire.
If you have not sent in your entry yet,
please indicate on the entry form that you want a copy of the Spooner Lake
map and add $4 to your payment. Otherwise, you may send a check
(payable to BAOC) to Bob Cooley, 1150 Hearst Drive, Pleasanton, CA 94566, or
notify Bob by e-mail at rccooleyhome.com
and pay the $4 when you pick up your packet at the O-Fest.
T-Shirt
Angelica Riley (the reigning F-21 USOF champ) designed the Sierra O-Fest T-shirt. Check it out!
There is no formal child care this year. However, for the three A-meet days
(Sawmill Flat and Burton Creek, Aug. 2 and 5/6), Stephanie Maclean is the
liaison for parents with children who want to coordinate and watch each other's kids.
Please request child care when you register, and Steph will get in touch with you;
you can also e-mail her or call her at 650-694-7703.
Plans are not yet final, but Steph will probably set up a central location where
parents can drop off their kids. However, as noted, there will be no official staffing
or supervision of the area - parents will take turns watching the kids.
In addition, Northstar-at-Tahoe
offers paid child care for kids aged 2-10.
Weather
The summer climate in the Sierras is normally mild with cool evenings and
occasional thunderstorms. High temperature 50-80 F; low 25-55 F; chance of rain 10%.
