Type: Google Meet discussion to determine what mapping projects should be budgeted for 2025
It will soon be time to start proposing and drafting BAOC's 2025 mapping budget. As BAOC's current Mapping Director, I'd like to figure out what mapping projects you all would be most interested in funding this coming year. These could be improvement projects to maps that have seen better days, or ideas you might have for new maps. These could be in the Tahoe area, central California (Cal Poly!!), or closer to home.
This past year's projects have included the following:
- Indian Valley, a remapping done by Bill Cusworth.
- Calero, a remapping done by Misha Kreslavsky.
- A significant update to UC Berkeley.
- A significant update to Lake Herman.
- Ongoing expansion work on Cal Poly.
I'll be hosting a virtual Google Meet meeting: "BAOC Mapping Plan 2025", on Thursday, October 17, from 7–9 PM to present my initial ideas, brainstorm additional ideas, and weigh our options. When the time comes, you will be able to join the discussion here (https://meet.google.com/vta-jtgo-itk).
Please drop by if you'd like to offer input!! The results of this meeting will directly inform the mapping plan I'll present to the Finance Committee/Board later in October.
Also please drop by if you're interested in picking up any projects yourself. The club has a budget for both improving and creating orienteering maps — we can fund your work.
